This past week/weekend was so jammed packed with adventure it is hard to know where to start. Perhaps I'll start with the water heating leaking the morning I was getting ready to leave for job testing at a bank. I was frantic - water heaters are pricey and ours isn't even five years old. I did past the test and Shaun and I spent a while on the phone with various plumbers. Thankfully Shaun called the manufacturer and found out that ours was still under warranty. Long story short, we only had to pay for installation and I got the job. So, we have a heater that makes our water hot without leaking on the carpet and I begin job training mid-April in downtown Philly.
Kim got here hours before the plumber and we had a wonderful time hanging out with her. I miss not having her across the street... Once the plumber was done we picked up pizza, stuff to make nachos and a movie. Saturday we got a very late start (due to more homeowner fun involving a plumber's snake) and just made it to the last tour of an Amish homestead. No one lives there anymore but it was very informative. It is hard to believe that when you leave our road and make a right you hit a not so nice area, then shopping shopping more shopping and Philly. Head left and within 30 minutes you are in Amish country. So, we explored Bird-in-Hand, ate at Good 'n Plenty and managed to find some time for the outlet mall. =)
Since we are still looking for a church to call our own, we visited a community church that is really a Mennonite church in disguise. Their women's bible study is essentially a quilting group, but the people were sweet, the sermon was good, and the music was a wonderful combination of new choruses and old hymns - we even used the hymnal once. From there we made lunch at home then went to Longwood Gardens. Should you ever be near Kennett Square (mushroom capital of the US) you should make the effort to go to the Gardens. Beautiful! We made it for the last day of their orchis exhibit but there is so much more. They have fountains, a castle, the largest conservatory I've ever seen and walking trails. Next time we get married that's where we are going.
On the way down there we saw the strangest thing. First we passed beautiful rolling hills with horse jumps and noticed a lot of cars. We thought there may be a fox hunt (they still do that out here). Sure enough out comes a man in his daper riding outfit - red coat and all... chasing a horse. The horse he was chasing happened to be in the road and a little confused about where it should be going.
